Dom Dolla & Sonny Fodera Go Underground In Washington D.C.
Amidst their ongoing North American Fall Tour, Dom Dolla and Sonny Fodera showed America’s capital the true meaning of an underground dance party this past weekend. Hosted by Nu Androids, one of Washington D.C.’s most unique live music event enthusiasts, the dominantly tech-house music soiree was one of the most intriguing concepts we’ve gotten to be a part of. Neither the artists themselves nor its attendees had ever experienced anything like it.
While most of the tour’s stops take place at major clubs or dance halls throughout the country, this one in particular was held at DC Brau, one of D.C.’s most popular craft breweries. The entire brewery was completely evacuated to make room for Dom and Sonny to throw down some pretty filthy tech-house sounds for fans to indulge in. Very minimal levels of production were executed throughout the show, with just the right amount of lasers and perfectly dimmed lighting to add to the overall ensemble. The duo’s exotic tunes alone were striking enough to execute such a successful production, and for the first time ever, D.C. went as underground as it gets.
D.C. natives Jordan Sound and Anthony Raad opened up the show and set the tone for what the remainder of the night was going to look like, hyping up the crowd from the get go. A wild Dom Dolla appeared on stage shortly after and accelerated the energy levels in the air at an all-time high. He kicked things off by mixing in original bangers like “Be Randy” and “Take It” in between other impressive tracks, and also showcased his fresh remix of Hayden James’ “Nowhere To Go” and Walker & Royce’s re-work of his highly in-demand tune, “San Frandisco”.
As if the crowd wasn’t already going wild enough, Sonny Fodera took over and completely blew us all away. Playing track favorites from his ‘Rise’ album such as “Give Me A Reason”, “Been A Long Time”, and “Scratch My Back” had fans singing along to their provoking lyrics and dancing along to their mesmerizing beats. With his unique mixing style, Sonny kept a pretty consistent uplifting groove going all throughout his set. Towards the show’s finale, Dom and Sonny went back to back to demonstrate that two is in fact better than one. What a way to end the night!
