FRIGHT NIGHT MASSIVE DISPLAYS HUGE MASHUP OF HEADLINERS FOR HALLOWEEN

Fright Night Massive: A Weekend On Zombie Island, a new festival by the same people who brought us Moonrise Festival. This weekend would prove to be filled with hard hitting performances and lots of potential. Located at the beautiful West Covington Park in the heart of Baltimore, with breathtaking views of the river and the Hanover Street Bridge, the ambiance of the zombie infested island ramped up to another level once the sun went down. The zombies looked as if they were pulled straight out of horror films. Blood stained lifeless faces, wearing distressed attire, limping and shrieking at anyone nearby. The festival brought the massive “Solar tent” from Moonrise festival, created an experience that grew increasingly darker as the night went on and the psychedelic lighting was amplified to incredible levels.

Walking from the main stage to the next you see a zombie-filled hill with cryptic messages on the trees and the fences. The other stage was more compact making for very intimate performances. Filled with diverse and incredible sets by Blanke, Mitis, Moksi, Ricky Retro, and even featuring a very unique house set by Dubloadz, aptly named “Houseloadz”.

The Solar tent delivered performances that were also just as diverse. Softest Hard brought a lush and fast paced hard style that started day one off perfectly. Complimenting her set were mind-blowing futuristic visuals that were easily one of the best the whole weekend by renowned 3D artist fvckrender.

Shizzlo and Bok-Nero’s brought a unique dynamic to the weekend with their “Hood Edm”, a reckless and energetic trap sound. Bok-Nero embodying the rapper persona in the duo jumping and going into the ground and performing on the mic, it was a non stop thrill.

Alison Wonderland, Said the Sky and Adventure Club brought equally entertaining and beautiful performances as expected. Zeds Dead, Herobust, Feed Me, Hekler, and Blunts and Blondes brought neck-breaking bangers throughout the weekend.

There was a lot of anticipation for Svdden Death’s Voyd set. Al Ross himself was just as eager to hear it, and said he overheard someone say they got nightmares from hearing this very set. Seeing him adorn a grotesque skull mask with long crooked horns was mesmerizing. The sonically demonic sound of the set and the deep tones of the voiceovers to the hellish visuals, this set could easily be described as one of the most hellish and nightmare inducing sets of all time. The crowd raged throughout and it was one of those moments that the whole crowd could deem as special.

If you haven’t listened to his album, here it is.

San Holo brought us back to Earth and out of the depths with his euphoric and nostalgia filled sound. He made sure to engage the crowd fully by pausing during the set to genuinely speak to the crowd. He even surprised everyone with his unique take on dubstep, admittingly saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but he clearly does.

Fright Night Massive is a festival that should not be missed next year, knowing that this was only the first year, it was oozing with potential for even more zombie filled and haunted theatrics, and top tier lineups. We’re looking forward to seeing what they have for us in store next year.
