SPACE JESUS DROPPED UNRELEASED TRACKS AT DEADBEATS SUNSET COVE

This year, Deadbeats promised a lineup like never before for the highly-anticipated Boca Raton show. Headlined by Ducky, 1788-L, Ekali, Space Jesus, and of course Zeds Dead, the variety of style is what caught our eye. Not to mention, Sunset Cove is one of the most pristine venues in South Florida. The location regularly hosts electronic events, and was made famous for hosting the all dubstep festival Forbidden Kingdom for the first time in 2019.

Despite a rainy forecast, the weather held up rather well for the event. Deadbeats enlisted local openers, Goon, Jinx, and Floret Loret to set the tone for the remainder of the evening. Two female DJs were represented on this year’s lineup—Jinx and Ducky. Ducky is known for her feel-good, catchy sound that resonates emotionally with listeners. Her set held pretty true to her reputation. She reeled us in by the heartstrings, and hit us hard with pummeling basslines.

Mysterious producer 1788-L cranked up the energy while he mixed heavy midtempo in with classic electronic hits. His set created the perfect vibe for the sun to set behind the cotton candy sky. We have to say that Ekali was one of the most sought after performances of the night. The artist is known for his tendency to blend all different genres of electronic music. From dubstep, to trap, to future bass, Ekali delivered a highly energetic performance that had the crowd both headbanging and holding friends close at the same time.

Space Jesus didn’t hesitate to hit us full force with his signature experimental bass sound. He started off the set by playing his unreleased collaboration with up and coming producer Onhell. Since he’s been rinsing the tune a lot lately, fans are getting more and more hopeful for its release. The remainder of the set was full of original bangers, VIPs, more collabs (including one with G Jones) and a fair amount of downtempo.

Following a short intermission, Zeds Dead finally took over to close out the night. We loved the house heavy performance they gave, while of course playing all of their classics. We heard ‘Rude Boy’, ‘Collapse’ and recent their collab with DROELOE ‘Stars Tonight’. There’s really no better way to finish a beautiful Saturday night than with Zeds Dead and your best friends. Once again, Deadbeats has brought a phenomenal show to Boca Raton, Florida. Considering it can’t get much better than this, we can’t wait to see which artists they’ll bring out next year.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
