IMAGINE MUSIC FESTIVAL LIGHTS UP ATLANTA

This past weekend, Imagine Music Festival returned to the Atlanta Motor Speedway for another successful year. Headlined by names like DJ Diesel aka Shaquille O’Neal, Rezz, Zeds Dead and Seven Lions, the festival touched on a multitude of genres in the electronic realm. Eager attendees traveled from all over to see their favorite artists light up the famous speedway for four magical nights.

For the first time ever, the festival added a Thursday pre-party to their schedule. Throwdown and Blunts & Blondes set the tone for the night with their bass heavy performances. A triple back to back show by Sullivan King, Kai Wachi and Kompany created chaos among the crowd. Finally, the wizard of experimental bass, Space Jesus rocked the stage to another planet. After all of this went down at the Disco Inferno stage, we were thrilled to see how the rest of the weekend would pan out.

Friday saw the massive Gravedancer stage takeover at Disco Inferno, featuring He$h, Squnto, Boogie T and Subtronics, rounded off by a deadly B4B. Meanwhile, Svdden Death tore up the main stage, Oceania, while Matoma brought the good vibes later on in the night. And of course, DJ Diesel Plus, the freshest selection of up and coming talent graced the Six Feathers and Techyes stages all weekend.

G Jones absolutely destroyed the crowd to commence the opening of the Amazonia stage on Saturday. Immediately after, Louis the Child closed out the stage with an unforgettable, energetic set. At Oceania, Zeds Dead threw down banger after banger while Above & Beyond brought festival goers to tears. Lively performances by Anna Lunoe, Nora en Pure and Lane 8 blessed the Disco Inferno stage. With extraordinary talent all around, Saturday really had us wishing we could be in two places at once.

Did someone say Dirtybird party? On Sunday, a Dirtybird Players stage takeover at Disco Inferno topped off the weekend at Imagine Music Festival. Justin Jay, J. Phlip, Justin Martin, and the leader of the pack, Claude VonStroke brought the stage to life for one final celebration. Alan Walker, Seven Lions and Marshmello closed out Oceania. Not to mention, things got pretty weird at Amazonia on the last night too. Detox Unit, Jade Cicada and Tipper all gave iconic performances

The Silent Disco stage in the campgrounds kept the festival alive throughout the weekend. During long hot days at the campsites, rising artists got the opportunity to project their sound across the grounds. At night, the stage was transformed into an actual silent disco, where campers partied until the sun came up. With delicious food vendors open all night as well, we never spent a moment wondering what to do with ourselves.

The famous Struggle Bus even set up in the campgrounds as well. Late nights at Imagine Music Festival were just as memorable as the days spent inside of the speedway. They made for the best bonding moments among friends and opportunities to discover those artists never we’d heard before. Although the time allotted to sleeping was minimal, that’s what the week after the festival is for!

Various art installations made for stunning photo props and great spots to spend down time. With an abundance of live painters present, creative energy constantly flowed across the grounds of Imagine. The atmosphere remained warm and bubbly throughout the entire weekend, encouraging the festival to live up to its nickname as an “aquatic fairytale”. Not to mention, the pool parties were the perfect addition to ward off the daytime heat.

Overall, its safe to say that Imagine Music Festival lived up to a lot of expectations. Plus, with all of the improvements and additions to its 2019 edition, Imagine is one to keep your eye on in the future. With a stellar lineup and an alluring atmosphere, we can only dream of where this event will take us next.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
