Listen To Koan Sound’s Refreshing New EP “Intervals Above”
On September 6th 2019 Koan Sound released a new EP titled “Intervals Above”. Will Weeks and Jim Bastow bless our ears yet again with this epic new release. The first song on the EP “Strident” blasts off the EP with a classic Koan Sound banger with heavy drums and synths in their classic glitch-hop style. The rest of the album however is a much lighter take on their sound.
Koan Sound has released softer and ambient music before but never so much at once. The rest of the EP is a relaxing, glitchy and ethereal side of their musical prowess. Featuring a very eastern inspired sound with instruments such as guitars, mandolins, hip hop and jazz inspired drum fills, intense yet soothing sonic crashes, Koan Sound manages to be heavy and soothing at the same time. The wonder of this group is that they can weave their dense and varied musical influences all into one cohesive sound. If you are looking for some sonic frequencies to take you to a new universe “Intervals Above” is the perfect EP for you.
