7 Reasons To Attend The 7th Year Of Hulaween For Halloween

Known for its welcoming vibe and its diverse musical lineup is Hulaween Music Festival. The event falls right before Halloween weekend, giving friends and loved ones a reason to grab their costumes, pashminas and hula hoops to head to Hula. Here are 7 reasons why this will be the best Halloween of your life.

Spirit Of The Suwanee Music Park

Located north of Live Oak Florida, Suwanee Music Park is a one-of-a-kind event that draws in people from all around the country. The 800 acres of historical land is naturally secluded by tall oak trees draped with Spanish moss. The main venue is built into the grounds along with a natural amphitheater used for the two alternating main stages. Campers are awestruck as soon as they walk into the eery venue.

The Music

Hulaween’s diverse lineups have peaked festival-goers attention for the past seven years. The String Cheese Incident founded the jamboree as a special Halloween event years ago and perform seven or more times over the course of the weekend. Their must-go-to set will always be the themed set, which changes each year to represent Hula’s theme. Other headliners include Bassnectar, Anderson Paak, Big Wild, Clozee, Jai Wolf, STS9, Tchami, Whethan, Manic Focus, Peekaboo, Whipped Cream, and many other talents.

Camping

The camping setup compliments Hulaween’s vibe. Instead of lining up into rows, campers can set up where they please. Big groups have the opportunity to make their own “city” by camping with all their friends. Electric generators are locating around the campground for convenience and campers are allowed to create small bonfires.

Spirit Lake

Haunting the pathway between the campground and the main stages is Spirit Lake and its endless activities. The lake’s schedule is filled with yoga, meditation, sound healing, spooky poetry, silent disco and more. During the day, one can walk around this lake to take in the art installations scattered across its landscape. Campers are transported into another world when the sun goes down and the multi-colored lights reflect into the water.

The Art Installations

At every turn, hula-goers find new pieces of art to satisfy the eye and captivate the imagination. People can also walk through a maze filled and connected by huge pieces of art made by contributing artists and bump into daunting sculptures that dominate the site. At night black lights are projected onto these pieces, enhancing the colors and your third eye.

Spooky Attire

Each year Hula has an intriguing theme. on Saturday night, attendees wear outfits inspired by the said theme. In 2017 it was the night of the crawling dead, in 2018 it was creatures of the galaxy and the theme for 2019 is yet to be released. But it’s promised to unify the festival. This is not the only time you’d see masked faces however, raver’s keep the spirit alive by dressing up each day.

The Vibe

Hulaween’s vibe is one of the main reasons why people who attend this festival go back every year. It’s a place to escape societal norms, work and stress for a weekend to just hang out, be themselves, watch trapeze artists at night, dance, get lost in the art and meet people that will be remembered forever.
