BOOGIE T.RIO BRINGS THE FUNK WITH NEW EP ‘THREE THE PEOPLE’

Hailing from Louisiana, Brock Thornton aka Boogie T has left the swamps behind to first make his name as a DJ. After building an empire in the world of electronic music, he’s merged talents with Andrew “Yano” Yanovski and Frank “Animal Drums” Castro to form the live band Boogie T.rio. The group is back on our radar with the release of their brand new EP, Three The People, via Boogie T’s label Drama Club Recordings.

The three tracks on the EP, “Said It All”, “Far”, and “Too Thick To Bleed” all boast the soul of New Orleans. Vocals by Boogie and YanoCombining elements of funk and rock, Three The People creates a fun and groovy atmosphere. Given Boogie’s roots in producing dubstep, a hint of bass gives the EP its final kick. Boogie T.rio is known for their killer live instrumentation as well as their energetic melodies, all while breathing new life into a more old-school style. Not to mention, vocals by Boogie and Yano keep the spirit of live music alive.

Paired with the EP, the band has created a visual component to the collection. “Far” is accompanied by a hypnotic, animated video that propels viewers right into a psychedelic swampland. Designed by Kooz, Boogie’s illustrator, animator, and art director, this nearly vibrant cartoon sets a playful tone for the EP.

With performances at Electric Forest, Voodoo Festival, Red Rocks, to name a few, Boogie T.rio have sparked passion on every stage they’ve touched. Three The People is introduced as the band’s third EP. Drama Club Recordings has also provided a home for artists like GRiZ, Rusko, Dirt Monkey, Jantsen, Gentlemans Club, HE$H x Bommer, and more. Since the launch of the label on April 20 (4/20) of last year, its already released over 50 tracks.

Boogie T is hitting the road as a solo act across North American and then Australia. Boogie T.rio will perform along the way as well. As a DJ, producer, singer, rapper and a player of many instruments, Boogie continues to impress us every step of the way.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
