WATCH THE CHAINSMOKERS AND ILLENIUM’S NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘TAKEAWAY’

It’s about time that two of the biggest names in feel-good electronic music came together. The Chainsmokers and Illenium finally found common ground with their new single ‘Takeaway’. Featuring a lovely set of vocals by rising star Lennon Stella, this track is just as emotional as it is fun. These two artists wouldn’t let you walk away without at least trying to make you cry.

While staying true to Illenium’s future bass roots, we can definitely sense where The Chainsmokers added their signature pop twist. Stella’s vocals are upbeat and catchy, lining up flawlessly with the track’s soulful melody. If you’re still not convinced that this is the most heartfelt heater of the summer, you’ll want to check out the official music video for ‘Takeaway’ for yourself. Directed by Jeremiah Davis, the production came to life at one of New York City’s architectural masterpieces, The Vessel.

This video gave all four artists their moment in the spotlight. Plus, it gives viewers a glimpse of The Vessel from angles that we never knew existed. The Chainsmokers offer us some insight, “We are so lucky to have had the opportunity to be one of the first artists to create a music video with The Vessel! We are from New York so to be a part of something that will be a huge part of New York City history is incredibly special to us. We also had to run up a ton of stairs in this video all day so we hope people appreciate that hahaha…”

Prior to the release of ‘Takeaway’, The Chainsmokers unleashed their massive single ‘Call You Mine’ featuring Bebe Rexha, which has surpassed 175 million global streams to date. Both tracks are featured on the duo’s ongoing album, World War Joy. The album will continue to grow, one song at a time over the remainder of the year.

The Chainsmokers made the right move enlisting Illenium for this alliance. Both artists bring something unique to the table, while jointly casting their emotional spell. Catch The Chainsmokers on their North American headline tour this fall, with dates and tickets available here.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
