BREAKING: OKEECHOBEE RELEASES DATES AND LINEUP UPDATE FOR 2020 RETURN

Amidst speculation surrounding the fate of the festival, we’re delighted to learn that Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival has officially set dates for its return. Mark your calendars for March 5-8, 2020.

During a meeting on July 25, significant progress was made in terms of moving forward with the festival. The Okeechobee County Commission accepted Soundslinger’s request to conduct the festival on its proposed dates. Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival will return to its home at Sunshine Grove next spring.

This announcement comes as a pleasant surprise to past attendees and hopeful future attendees who did not get their festival in 2019. However, since Insomniac announced that they will be partially taking over the event, the future of Okeechobee began to look bright. Now, fans have been promised dates to solidify their faith in the return of the festival.

The good news doesn’t end there—look out for a lineup come November, according to Jim Whisenand, a member of the Soundslinger board of directors. With the festival changing hands, it’s hard to say what we can expect of Okeechobee upon its return. However, Insomniac historically puts on some of the world’s most sought after events. We remain hopeful that the festival will continue to unfold in a positive direction.

Okeechobee is truly treasured as a festival of experience. Although the lineup is always decked with world class DJs, bands and musicians, fans keep returning for much more than the music. The festival offers interactive events and endless displays of visual and performance art. In addition, the festival does good by the local community. Contributing cash to nonprofits, providing meals to the hungry, and donating camping gear to the homeless are among a few examples.

The atmosphere at Okeechobee is like nothing you’ll find anywhere else. If you haven’t been lucky enough to experience it yet, you’ve been granted a second chance. Check back for future updates on the development of Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
