SHADES UNLEASHES THE BEAST WITH NEW SINGLE “TWO ONE SIX”

SHADES, the collaborative project between EPROM and Alix Perez has released the new single “Two One Six” via Deadbeats. The track serves as the lead single from their highly anticipated Black Heart Communion EP. “Two One Six” is a thrilling release that certainly sets a sinister tone for the rest of the EP.

“Two One Six” radiates an element of mystery to listeners. It opens with an ominous buzzing tone that embarks on a journey through a shadowy abyss. The dark and powerful lead quickly materializes into an attack of aggressive basslines. SHADES incorporates ghoulish vocals throughout the track to solidify the grim nature of “Two One Six”.

Having now spent several years in the studio together, Perez and EPROM have consequently crafted a very specific and detail-oriented brand within SHADES. Particular attention is placed on the artwork associated with each project. Each release is accompanied by black and white satanic inspired imagery, with a live show similarly void of color. The sound of the music aligns well with the visual concepts in play.

“Two One Six” is the first release by SHADES since their 2018 debut full-length album In Praise of Darkness. Meanwhile, EPROM and Perez have still kept their solo projects alive. Perez released his latest EP Enchiridion in September, 2018, as well as “Good to Me” in late January of this year. EPROM finally unleash one of his most sought after unreleased tracks, “Humanoid 2.0,” as part of his two-track collaborative EP of the same name alongside ZEKE BEATS. SHADES represents a notable marriage of talent that lovers of bass should seek out if they have not already.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
