EVAN GIIA

Exron Music: The response to your song WESTWORLD has been incredible! How does it feel be the first female vocalist signed to Foreign Family Collective?

EVAN GIIA: I am really proud and energized to be the first female on the label. Foreign Family Collective and their whole team made me feel at home right away. It feels amazing to be able to inspire other female artists getting their start right now. As for the response to WESTWORLD, I’m still not over it. Best feeling in the world when people sing the words with me.

Exron: Your latest single I DONT LIKE UR FRIENDS was just released this past June. Is this the sound you envision a future album having?

EVAN GIIA: I DON’T LIKE UR FRIENDS is a very honest song, which is a theme I like to keep in all of my music. I tend to stay away from the typical love song and instead write about real life relatable topics. My future album will mostly likely have a bit of everything sprinkled in.

Exron: You’ve also been fortunate enough to create music with your loved ones! How has releasing music with MEMBA, made up of two artists very close to you, helped you to grow as an artist?

EVAN GIIA: Working with MEMBA has been such a blessing. If it wasn’t for them none of this would be happening. They gave me the confidence to quit my 9-5 and try to make EVAN GIIA a reality. It’s such a safe space creating with them that I am able to really let my creativity run free. Which is the best recipe for a great record. They are my best friends and I love them very much. I’m so proud of us!

Exron: I noticed you’ll be at the destination festival, SUNDARA, just announced by ODESZA & Foreign Family Collective. Do you plan on collaborating with them beforehand?

EVAN GIIA: I cannot wait for SUNDARA. It will be a weekend of all my favorite things: friends, amazing music and the beach. I have always wanted to get in the studio with ODESZA, we will see what the future holds!

Exron: Your opening act for ODESZA in Tuscaloosa was so fun! We were so impressed with the energy your stage presence inflicted upon the audience! How was your experience on the “A Moment Apart” Tour?

EVAN GIIA: I will never forget that tour. It was full of firsts for me. I had never been on an arena tour, never slept on a tour bus, ect. so I was learning as I went. I was lucky enough to have my brother, Harry, with me traveling as my Tour manager. Every single person on the ODESZA team is incredible, welcoming and amazing at what they do. They made it so easy for me. Not to mention Clay and Harrison watched every single show from side stage, cheering me on. It was a dream for sure.

Exron: You’re about to start touring with Australian electronic trio, Crooked Colours! How exciting! Do you have anything special planned or new music you’ll be teasing?

EVAN GIIA: I’m stoked! I’m a fan of the Crooked Colours guys. My set is a little longer this tour so I get to add new songs and switch up the set list which is exciting. As a new artist, almost half my set list is unreleased so I am always teasing a bunch of new tracks.

Exron: It’s inspiring to see you up on stage, truly feeling that you love every moment of what you do. How has music changed your life and when did you know that it is your passion?

EVAN GIIA: Music had been a huge thread tying my whole life together. I started singing classically, studying Opera for 10 years. I knew back then that I was meant to be a performer. After moving to NYC, I realized it was time for me to try and make music my life. I’m just grateful and honestly shocked that it’s working. It feels like it shouldn’t be allowed to love your work this much.

Exron: Who have you been listening to lately?! And is there anyone you’d like to collab with?

EVAN GIIA: My music taste is all across the board. I’ve been loving MO’s new album, Vince Staple’s new album, Lane 8 and Mac Miller. I’m working on a collab with my homie Naomi Wild. I met her on the ODESZA tour. Stay tuneeeddd.
