Freaky Deaky Texas Put On A Killer Halloween Weekend
Disco Donnie presented the first year of Freaky Deaky Texas this October. This two-day Halloween themed festival took place at the Sam Houston Race Park in northwest Houston.
The festival featured four insane stages: The Shrine, The Crypt, The Rising, and Haunted Hallow. Each stage featured remarkable designs, appropriately in the spirit of Halloween.
On Saturday, Freaky Deaky determined that the famously muddy grounds at the race park were still unsustainable for attendees. The festival quickly resolved the issue by pushing the set times back by an hour. The now only slightly muddy grounds made for a spectacular day in Houston. It’s fair to say the first day of Freaky Deaky Texas more than exceeded the expectations of guests.
DJ Snake closed out the main stage, The Shrine on the first night of the festival, following an emotional Porter Robinson DJ set. G Jones into 4b followed by Adventure Club closed out The Crypt, the second largest stage at the festival. This special set given by Adventure Club was definitely a top production of the weekend. The duo put out a violently heavy yet heart-rendering show to conclude an epic first day.
It was difficult to top the first day, but day two did exactly that. SayMyName into 12th Planet, finally into Zomboy absolutely destroyed The Crypt stage. This grueling lineup had attendees practically glued to the rail of The Crypt all night.
The Shrine stage featured a murderous set by Excision followed by Kaskade to sooth the souls of the crowd. Kaskade put on a beautiful show to close out the festival for the weekend, playing many of their own fan favorites.
For it’s first year, Freaky Deaky could not have gone any smoother. Unbeatable production, gorgeous weather, and a great crowd made for a successful weekend. We’re definitely hoping Freaky Deaky will continue to leave its legacy in Houston next year.
