Egzod

Exron Music: What made you initially start producing music?

Egzod: I first started DJ-ing when I was 12 back home in France and Portugal. My dad has always been an Electronic music fan so I have pretty much been into Dance music since I was born. After some time, I got tired of playing other people’s music so I decided to start making my own. So then, I got into music production and music theory and I started composing and producing my own music back in High School. I have always been open minded to different cultures and styles of music so I would combine different genres together. My passion for music, but also audio in general, led me to move to the USA to study audio engineering and music production at Full Sail University.

Exron Music: How would you define how your personal style is represented in the music you produce?

Egzod: My music influences come from the fact that I grew up between different cultures and countries (French mom, Portuguese dad, and Algerian step-dad). I have always been curious and eager to discover exotic styles of music especially from the South and Eastern world. I think you can hear these influences of World music in my productions. Egzod means “Exodus” so it embodies the idea of emigrating and traveling to different places with a touch of spirituality, so it completely represents me.

Exron Music: Your track “Paper Crowns ft. Leo The Kind” had such great support from fans last year. What is it about this track that you think led to its success?

Egzod: I think it was a combination of different things. “Paper Crowns” was the first record that I signed to NoCopyrightSounds. They definitely helped me to take this track to the next level through their huge network. The track was “Poppy” so it reached a wider audience, nonetheless it had a few original elements to it, which in this case was the melody in the drop, the plucky sound in the intro, and Leo The Kind’s unique voice. Also, I think Leo The Kind did an amazing job in writing the lyrics.

Exron Music: What is your ultimate goal with the “Atman EP”?

Egzod: Atman is a word from Ancient India that is equated to inner self or soul; the true self of an individual. I want to awaken awareness through my music and encourage everyone to discover who they really are and find their purpose.

Exron Music: “Legacy” is your newest single that you’ve released in anticipation of the “Atman EP”. What was your inspiration with the creation of this track?

Egzod: I love to combine cinematic vibes to my tracks, so movie and video game soundtracks inspire me a lot in general. My trip to South Asia I did a few years back changed my life in so many ways and made me reflect about many things in life in general and what it is really important to me; so I wanted to honor that in this track and in the overall EP using Asian and Eastern sounds.
