Exron Exclusive: DUSKUS

London-based artist and producer Duskus is stepping on the forefront of the music scene with an evolutionary touch and presence. His ingenuity has not gone unnoticed in the industry, and he is quickly expanding his aura with his newest singles and tour schedule. We had a chance to catch up with the artist and talk about his most recent single release, “Longtime”. Check out our Exron Exclusive interview with Duskus below!

Exron Music: How did it feel to be bitbird’s first signed artist when they launched four years back?

DUSKUS: It felt really cool. Even though I wasn’t sure at the time what I was stepping into, I adored the brand and how cool the label looked on Soundcloud. It was the only platform that really understood what I was making and I feel as if I was one of the only artists that understood what they were doing.

Exron Music: How has the fan feedback been from some of your other singles like “Know Why” and “On My Own”?

DUSKUS: The fan feedback has always been great. “On my own” was one of the first songs that inspired and shaped the sound I make today. The use of vocal chops and making melodies using these vocal chops really came from “On My Own”. After I released it, the feedback from fans was tremendous and I wanted to see how I could develop this sound. My follow up to that single was “know why” which was featured on the second bitbird compilation. I wanted to keep it similar sounding to “On My Own” as I felt it was special due to both tracks being on the 2 compilations.

Exron Music: What is it about your sound that you think identifies your personality as an artist?

DUSKUS: I think the fact that I am from the UK and not the US has given me a different perspective on the sound. I also think me living London specifically has allowed me to have an outlook on different cultures allowing me to develop as a person and artist. Finally I think I’m secretly very emotional, I may not show it, but I like to include it in my music.

Exron Music: Your newest single “Longtime” is out now and we absolutely love it! What was the inspiration for this track and what made you want to use your own vocals?

DUSKUS: Its sort of a bridge between my previous sound and the future of my sound. The house vibe is something I really want to pursue within my music. Its something a little bit different to my previous work, but I just really enjoyed it regardless and had to put it out. I also did not plan to use my vocals in the track, I would normally send off the idea to a vocalist, but after throwing melodyne on it, I loved it haha.

Exron Music: What can you tell us about Kaleido and plans for the future?

DUSKUS: Something different from your normal label. I want to bring music back but weird and cool.

Exron Music: What can we expect from your tour this coming December?

DUSKUS: You can expect lots of new music that are currently in the works being played. Im extremely excited as this is my first tour and things have lined up perfectly with this music almost being finished. I think this tour will help me understand the music industry a little bit more and give me a better outlook on what my audience likes and what makes people dance live.
