Exron Exclusive: MK

This past Wednesday at the Ultra Records party at Sony Music we got the chance to catch up with MK and hear about his new track “Back and Forth” with Jonas Blue and Becky Hill. The track came out today (September 7) on Ultra Records/Area 10.  This vibrant and rhythmic house track also got a harder remix, “MK Dub” which he released at his Creamfields set this summer. The Brit Award nominee Jonas Blue and chart-topping songwriter Becky Hill added in a special aspect to make this track unforgettable.  Check out the exclusive interview below!

Exron Music: We are excited for the release of “Back & Forth” with Jonas Blue and Becky Hill, can you tell us a little bit about where the inspiration for the track comes from?

MK: There’s actually two versions of the track, the main version that is more daytime house radio and the other one that I use when I play my more underground sets. The main version of the track came first and once I had that one done then I went back and did my own version for my sets. That version is the one I had posted on my Instagram a couple weeks back.

Exron Music: How was working with Jonas Blue and Becky Hill?

MK: Oh it was really fun.  We kind of had to work remotely because all of us were always traveling.  For example, Jonas would work on something and then send it over to me, I would work on the track then send it to Becky and she would call me from the studio.  So it was just a weird triangle while producing the track.

Exron Music: We really loved the dynamic you three showed in the track.

Exron Music: So you spent a lot of time in Ibiza this past summer.  Can you tell us a little bit about your experiences there or your favorite part of the experience?

MK: Well it was a lot of fun because I had my first Area 10 MK pool party. It was just like a Vegas type of pool party but in Ibiza.  I did six of those, every Monday for awhile and they were really really fun. Ibiza is like Vegas on steroids without the cheesiness.

Exron Music: Tell us about your tour with your upcoming tour Camelphat.

MK: Yeah, that’s coming up in a couple weeks.  I’ve been working with Camelphat basically since day one pretty much.  They are really good friends of mine, we speak or at least text almost every other day, just about random things. We talk a lot. I’m really looking forward going on tour with them, because even if we weren’t on an actual tour together we would still be on tour together.

Exron Music: Do you have some new music we can look forward to?

MK: I’ve always got some new music I’m working on.  I’ve got an upcoming collaboration with Gorgon City coming up soon.
