Moonrise Festival Rages On Despite Weather Delays
Steez Promo has yet again put on an immaculate Moonrise Festival experience, despite light rain taking place both days of the festival. One thing that is special about Moonrise is the wide variety of music ranging from house to dubstep. All the different genres bring in such a large array of people from all over the EDM community and non-traditional ravers. Moonrise Festival provides a welcoming experience for everyone interested in the music scene. Although both days of the festival saw weather evacuations, the festival made the most of the situation while mother nature added a bonus light show for the Mooncrew to witness.
Each year Moonrise continues to make major improvements and changes to each of the four stages: Stellar, Lunar, Celestial, and Solar. The Stellar Stage had a massive visual screen where artists like Marshmello, Kaskade, Zeds Dead, DJ Snake, Diplo, and Illenium held their respective performances. The Solar Tent, was exclusively dominated by bass music artists, provided an immersive bass experience with additional lasers and lights added to the stage and the ceiling. The Celestial Garden stage saw the addition of multiple disco balls with lights reflecting of them in the moonlight, sending glimmers of light across the festival. The Lunar Stage had changed locations this year to provide a different flow for the festival. The additions to the Lunar Stage included better production across everything from the stage production to the pyrotechnics.
Not only did Moonrise bring improvements to the stage production, the overall hospitality and atmosphere of the festival had improved as well. Volunteers were all over the crowd helping people stay hydrated and bringing up the crowd’s energy after the evacuations. It was evident they wanted everyone to continue having a good time despite the weather conditions. The staff from nearby Echostage also played a huge role in the security of the festival. Across the board, from staff to the artists of the festival, everyone was trying to make sure that Moonrise still finished successfully. Each artist made the most out of their sets for the fans, despite having some cut short.
It was a great weekend for bass music fans due to the presence of some of the heaviest hitters in the scene. Some of the notable artists included Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Kompany, G Jones, Ganja White Night, Zeds Dead, and Excision. A lot of unreleased bass tracks were played for the Moonrise attendees also. Excision dropped multiple songs from his new album Apex coming out August 14, including his new collaboration with Sullivan King.
The festival closed on Sunday with impressive performances by Excision, Marshmello, Timmy Trumpet, and Lane 8. The evening sky over Baltimore was illuminated by the storm and the pyrotechnics and lasers provided by the stages of Moonrise. The past two years Moonrise has had an unfortunate weather forecast but has still managed to pull off a memorable festival for their fans. We can only hope for the best for 2019 and can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year.
