Whethan Kicks Off Summer With “Pretty Girl”

Since Whethan’s emergence as a producer nearly three years ago, his music has always radiated a feel-good noise. What seems to keep Whethan’s name constantly circulating in the EDM community is his youth and the fresh sound that comes along with it. At the young age of nineteen, Whethan has stayed true to himself and his sound which can be seen in some of his latest releases.

One of these releases, his bootleg of “Pretty Girl” by Clairo truly exemplifies the epitome of Whethan’s future bass style. Although plenty of other artists are making their name with future bass, Whethan is unique in his consistency to the style. With this track, he does an excellent job of staying true to his emphasis on melody by intertwining tuneful lyrics with pop pulses creating a total embodiment of future bass. The “Pretty Girl” bootleg stands apart from past releases in its ability to give listeners an almost nostalgic and enlightening summery feeling, indicating Whethan’s attention to timing and his audience. While Whethan’s other alias’ have explored genres such as house and dubstep, he is careful to keep future bass as Whethan’s core focal point—the “Pretty Girl” bootleg does just this.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
