Diplo Releases Massive ‘California’ EP
This past Friday the LA based producer Thomas Wesley Pentz, aka Diplo, released a six track EP dedicated to the beautiful state of California. He writes on Facebook that this album drew inspiration from the “young sounds and rappers that have moved to LA”. The EP has collaborations with Santigold, Lil Yachty, Desiigner, DRAM, Lil Xan and more. Diplo released “Get It Right” with MØ and Goldlink first and this track definitely set the tone for what we could expect from the rest of the album.
Diplo is known for his versatility in the electronic music industry with many projects and collaborations. Major Lazer’s tracks and performances continue to take the world by storm. The group has over 4 million followers on SoundCloud and millions of song streams. In the past twelve months alone they have released ‘Know No Better’ EP as well as a ‘Give Me Future’ soundtrack. You can see the similarity in styles between Diplo’s own work and Major Lazer. Another project that Diplo is known for is the infamous duo Jack U with Skrillex. They released a bunch of amazing tracks with collaborations from artists like Justin Bieber, Kiesza, AlunaGeorge and 2Chainz. Together the pair took over Ultra Music Festival 2014 and 2015 and headlined Madison Square Garden in NYC.
We’ve come to expect nothing but greatness from Diplo, whether it is under his own alias or another side project collaboration. This new EP is no different; the songs are fresh and unique. He has become one of the figure heads of the current electronic dance music industry and continues to push boundaries and explore new styles.
