Ganja White Night Releases LP and Takes Off On “The Origins” Tour

Ganja White Night, consisting of Belgian duo Benjamin “Bamby” Bayeul and Charlie “Erwan” Dodson, have released details on their newest EP The Origins under their Subcarbon Records label. The 12-track album featuring collaborations with renowned electronic producers Zed’s Dead, Caspa, Boogie T, Opiou, Dirt Monkey, and more, the EP exploits a great deal of heavy bass-induced sounds. Aside from just the musical aspect of the album, joining them on their newest project is talented graffiti artist Ebo, who has compiled a narrative video series with the help of the videographer near San Antonio to accompany the album’s entirety and will also partake in the nationwide tour alongside Caspa, Opiuoo, Downlink, Dirt Monkey, and Subtronics throughout special selected dates. The Origins tour is set it kick off on February 8th in Grand Rapids, Michigan only three days after the official EP debut, and will provide attendees across 19 other cities with a live instrumentation production reflecting purely organic material on stage.

The electronic duo is known for incorporating a wide array of other genres within their main melodic bass roots including reggae, dub, hip-hop, and other minimal drum & bass subgenres. With these sound inspirations emerging from different areas within the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Latin America, GWN’s music represents a merging of cultures within their one overall unique genre, an aspect many other artists look over. These inspiring alterations to the generic electronic bass scene make GWN one of a kind, and the 12 tracks featured on The Origins reflect their ethnic sounds and genuine voices to an extremity.

Aside from gaining inspiration from other musical genres, GWN’s sound influence also comes from other aspiring artists within the bass-induced electronic music culture. Teaming up with Caspa was a dream come true for the duo, as their admiration came about a few years back when they were simply just attendees at one of his shows back in their home country in Belgium. From watching Caspa perform, to collaborating with him on their newest EP, GWN recognize that they have successfully come a long way in making their wishes a reality. Similarly, their collaboration with Zed’s Dead was almost an illusion, as some difficult bumps along the way prohibited the track’s work to progress in timely matter. But, with patience and effort from both sides of the spectrum, the collaboration thrived just as they had hoped. Collaborations such as these are what allow multiple artists to coexist and to blend their original sound in harmony with one another, a phenomenon that makes these new tracks on The Origins just that much more musically intriguing.

The story behind the album’s title and complexity refers to GWN’s debut in the electronic music world. From the beginning of their music career – their “origins” – the duo has always deeply expressed their organic roots in their released projects. Everything that GWN stands for and believes in is reflected in their sound, including the excessive amount of dedication and time that is carefully and exquisitely put into every nit and grit of their work. Deservingly, The Origins has been in the works since Fall of 2016, and on February 4th we’ll all get the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of these unique artists’ voices. GWN’s upbringing within the music world since their initial start-up in Brussels has been extraordinary, and over the years they have become thriving international sensations. With the official release of The Origins and the initiation of their nationwide tour this week, the ripple effect on their fame will surely rise.
